The drive needs clearing of snow, the wife wants to go for a walk and you need a bit o' cardio/weights 'cos the Hols have bloated you out... You need to go grab a couple of 6kg plates, some webbing and make a Homemadegymstuff - Poorman's Weight Vest
as detailed below.
Plates (No need to 'go mad' 2x6kg'll do) and some 1" webbing (~60")
or similar.
The right knot...
Et Voilà.
Plates are at 20" centre to centre, leaving 11" edge to edge for your noggin! These dims allow the 'vest' to sit high on the chest/back. I'll be wearing the HPV over a hoody and under a thick coat, so the 1" webbing shouldn't bite too much, if you prefer - use a bit of pipe insulation as padding.
If you like it - and would like to buy a 'proper' vest then have a look at the short style MIR plate vest
(Ladies specials
too) which allows a bit more freedom of movement and you can also re-use your own weights. Or if that aint enough howabout 80lbs?
There's also a lighter walking vest at 10lbs
to get you started...

I've got mine - see ya round the block!
They need never know! - Homemade Gym Stuff

I need one that will go upto 385lbs so I can train in the style of Steve Justa. 20lbs first day then add a pound a day and walk 2 miles. Sounds like a well thought out plan. Just like you give me 1 pence one day and then double it everyday for a year! Top thinking, right down my darkest alley
ReplyDeleteThat was at least five years ago - he's now upto 1825+ lbs! and walks 10 miles a day, every day, in the mud, wearing sunglasses and with THAT hairstyle.
ReplyDeleteApparently he met someone called 'Chris' whilst out walking the other day...
LOL (I never normaly say that but it warrants a LOL!) I'm off to get a mullet and take Scarborough railway station for a drag tonight at midnight. Maybe this dude called 'Chris' will be there on the tail end of a double marathon with a four hundred pound shovel on his shoulder just warming his leg up a bit
ReplyDeleteLove the weighted pack idea. I'm actually gonna do a bit on a morning with the dogs to get down past 20 stone sometime - after I finish the Stella you got me! :)
