Rob training hard for his Mad Marathon Challenge
Rob Russell was an accomplished athlete before a serious car crash stopped his international career. He is quite a man, fit, healthy and always thinking of those worse off than him. Every two years, Rob sets himself a charity challenge to raise funds for Children in Distress. This year Rob’s hectic and demanding training schedule has been set back a month  by a recurrent back injury, however he still intends that on Saturday 21st September 2013 to attempt his toughest charity challenge to date raising  funds for two worthy causes,  Children in Distress and Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Scarborough based Rob will kick off his challenge with a home based 1 Hour Marathon Kettle bell Snatch. He then intends to run a 26 Mile Marathon from Scarborough to Kirkbymoorside. Challenge three, Rob’s 26 Mile, Concept2 Rowing Machine Marathon will then take place in Kirkbymoorside’s new Children’s Centre or weather permitting adjacent to CID’s Thrift Store. If that weren’t enough he intend to cycle the 26 Mile Marathon course back from Kirkbymoorside to Scarborough This would  be a very tough challenge even for a big, super fit man, like Rob, but he has been training hard for the last 6 months losing over three stones in weight in the process. Rob  aims to get into even better shape in readiness for his 'Mad 4 in 1 Marathon Challenge for the two charities he holds very dear.

Whilst all this is going on, Jane Russell, the charity’s Funding Development Manager, Rob’s greatest fan and worried but ever supportive mum, and June Cook of Marie Curie Cancer Care,   will be holding a simultaneous Coffee Morning and Home Bake Cake Stall with a Tombola and Raffle at Kirkbymoorside Westfield’s Children’s Centre to raise as much additional funding as possible for the two very worthwhile causes.  If you have prizes you would like to donate to the CID Tombola please contact either Jane (01751 432089) or June (01751 431160).

If you can, please motivate and support Rob’s “Mad” 4 in 1 Marathon Challenge with a cash donation. Any donation large or small will be greatly appreciated; you can sponsor Rob by just clicking this JustGiving hyperlink http://www.justgiving.com/The-Mad-4-Marathon-Challenge .
